Directions to Coffee Bay from the Northern, Kwa Zulu Natal approach.
Make your way to Mthatha (it used to be Umtata), from wherever you are coming.
A short distance out of Mthatha on the N2 national road to East London you will pass a SHELL Ultra City fuel stop on your right side.
Continue on the East London road for about 13 km beyond the SHELL Ultra City. At this point, look out for the sign for “Coffee Bay / Mqanduli” indicating the glide off from the N2 to the Coffee Bay / Mqanduli turn-off to the LEFT.
Take this glide off from the N2 and turn LEFT onto the Coffee Bay road.
Directions to Coffee Bay from the Southern, East London approach.
From East London, head toward Mthatha (it used to be Umtata) on the N2 national road.
About 20 km before you get to Mthatha look out for the “Coffee Bay / Mqanduli” sign indicating a glide off to the left.
Take this glide off from the N2 and continue to the STOP. Turn RIGHT and under the bridge. Keep going straight onto the Coffee Bay road.
A short distance beyond the crossing you will see “Viedgesville Wholesale” on your right and then you know you’re on the right road !
From here it is about 76 km to Coffee Bay – all on tar. Most of the road is in good condition at present, but look out for potholes in places.
